PEARL FARM BEACH RESORT

PICTURES for you!

Dsc01824Located in the southern part of the Philippines is the Island Garden City of SAMAL , an archipelago consisting of nine islands which stretch out over a land area of 28,000 hectares. Samal is a beautiful, tranquil and exotic island with a coastline adorned with white sand beaches, abundant marine life, rock formations, mangroves, and landscape elements of coconut palms, flowering plants and fruit-bearing trees. The area is blessed with various natural attractions and flourishing flora and fauna.

Nestled on the quiet side of Samal Island, The Pearl Farm Beach Resort is a mere 45-minute boat ride from the wharf. This fourteen (14) hectare spread was once a pearl farm, where thousands of white-lipped oysters transported from the Sulu Sea, were cultivated for their pink, white and gold pearls. Today, the resort beckons with the promise of a relaxing, private retreat, under the care of its friendly and charming staff.

The waters of this island resort are inviting. Crystal clear waves lap gently on the shore and the calm surface of the rock pool washes over the edge into the sea below. The rhythm of the islands sets the pace for a romantic retreat. A string ensemble serenades guest, and strains of exotic tribal music blend with the sounds of nature: birdsongs, murmuring waves, cascading waters.

Indeed, the Pearl Farm Beach Resort is a tropical paradise; an idealic retreat waiting to be discovered in the beautiful island of Samal.

SAMANA SANTA 2006

PICTURES for you!

Dsc02887 Mahal na Araw (Holy Week or Semana Santa)
Lucban, Quezon

The passion and death of Jesus Christ is commemorated with an eight-day religious festival. The Lenten observation actually starts with Ash Wednesday, over a month before Holy Week. During Ash Wednesday, a priest makes the sign of the cross on the forehead of devotees, using ash. Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday rites and ends with a stirring dawn procession, known as the salubong, during Easter Sunday. In some parts of the country, penitents not only flog themselves but actually allow themselves to be crucified.

"Sinasabi ko sa inyo; kung ang dalawa sa inyo dito sa lupa ay magkaisa sa paghingi ng anumang bagay sa inyong panalangin, ipagkakaloob ito sa inyo ng aking Amang nasa langit. Sapagkat saanman may dalawa o tatlong nagkakatipon dahil sa akin, naroon akong kasama nila." MATEO 18:19-20

DAAN NG KRUS 2006

PICTURES for you!

Dsc02759_1 Sinakulo or Via Crucis (Way of the Cross) On Good Friday, parishes all
over Tayabas perform the Sinakulo or Via Crucis (Way of the Cross) at
the 'Patio' of Minor Basilica of Saint Michael Archangel, a street
presentation or a stage enactment of Christ?s arrest, mocking, trial,
painful way to Calvary (Golgotha), crucifixion, and death on the cross.
Verses are recited and sang while colorful costumes reminiscent of SUSI
NG TAYABAS Production
are worn accordingly. There are also actual
flagellations and nailings to the cross of penitents as expressions of
devotion and penance. Performances are superb and have been critically
acclaimed even by the most respected Filipino artists and thespians.
Even non-devotees are observed to have been moved to tears by the
ceremony. And all these are done under the scorching sun of the
Philippines' notorious summers!

MORIONES FESTIVAL 2005

BOAC, MARINDUGUE

Dsc09967The island-province of Marinduque lies at the very heart of the Philippine archipelago, and such trategic location allows for a dynamic interaction between and among various environmental and social forces that have made and continue to shape the province. It is host to thousand of traipsing and island-hopping visitors and more importantly home to a people proud of a rich culture, a colorful past, and a remarkable tradition. All these features blend into a way of life that is uniquely Marinduqueno.

One of the most colorful festivals celebrated in the island of Marinduque is the Moriones Festival. Morion means "mask" or "visor," a part of the medieval Roman armor which covers the face. Moriones, on the other hand, refers to the masked and costumed penitents who march around the town for seven days searching for Longinus. This is a folk-religious festival that re-enacts the story of Longinus, a Roman centurion who was blind in one eye.

DAVAO CROCODILE PARK

PICTURES for you!

Dsc01557 The Davao CROCODILE PARK has been around
for years. It was one of places where onle school
children go to for field trips.

Last year, the Dizon family-owned park moved to a
new and better home. After the change of location
and the improved amenities, locals and tourists
started to flock to the place to see animals,
interact with nature and have some fun.

Although the park is not a full-pledged zoo, it is
one of the few places in the city where children
can learn more about the rich flora and fauna of
Davao City and the rest of the Philippines.

On Sundays, families and barkadas flock to the
park to be amazed at the antics of the lazy but
fierce crocodiles, the colorful plumes of birds, and
the freaky lizards and the rare mammals.

The Davao CROCODILE PARK, located along the
Ma-a Diversion Road is a mere 15-30 mins. drive
from the heart of Davao City.
